Super Mario Themed Birthday Party

For my son’s 6th birthday party we threw him a Super Mario Themed birthday party - he was so excited! I had booked an indoor kids play area for the venue. The venue provided the balloons, plates, table cloths, silverware and pizza. Additionally, they provided a photobooth and the play area for the kids, which was nice. I loved that cleaning up was on them and that the kids had such a large space to play. I do wish we had a little bit more time in the play area (I think we got one and a half hours, which meant we ran out of time for opening presents but I was able to fit in everything else). Also, we only had 10 minutes before the guests arrived to set up the food and decor, so things were a little hectic setting up.

I got these cute little Super Mario table centerpiece decorations from Amazon (here’s the link). I chose the colors of the plates, tablecloths and napkins to coordinate with the Super Mario table decor. I bought the coins from Amazon (here’s the link) to use as table scatter.

I chopped up veggies to go with the pizzas, and provided fresh fruit. We did chips and water bottles and juice boxes to make it easy for distribution and handing out to kids / parents. I really liked the cupcake tower and the little cupcake toppers. They were really cute! Cupcakes are my favorite for kids’ birthday parties because they are so easy to hand out, and it just made sense since we didn’t have a lot of time in the venue.

The Wario table decor was funny. The graphics on these were well-done.

I liked using the coins as table scatter, because it made the table feel less sparse without feeling too overwhelming, and the kids took the coins home in their goodie bags.

Here’s some more photos of the food with the table decor. We had extras so we used them on the food counter.

The graphics on the cupcake toppers, table centerpieces and goodie bags were really sharp and bright, which I appreciated. A lot of times they come in blurry or de-saturated.

These honeycomb Super Mario centerpieces were easy to set up, too.

For the favor bags, we included a full-sized M&M’s, a Super Mario PEZ dispenser, some Super Mario Stickers (I don’t have a photo of the actual ones we used so I will used the listing photo from the one that I purchased), and the coins from the table. The PEZ dispensers are really cute, and come in a variety pack which usually includes Mario, Luigi, Princess Peach, and Donkey Kong.

The kids really liked the pin the nose on Mario game, even though the poster was a little rough looking since we had to poke a hole through the poster to hang it (we weren’t allowed to use adhesives of any kind on the walls).

If you’re looking for some Super Mario gift ideas, these are some items that we have bought for our little ones or they received for a birthday gift and love. :)

These are presents my son REALLY wants but does not yet have. He wants Bowser’s Airship and has been talking about it non-stop.

Donkey Kong is another playset that he has been talking about and has on his Christmas list.

He also wants the Princess Peach Castle - one thing I will say, is I wish that Lego and Mario included more of the figurines in the set. For example, I feel that Princess Peach should be included in the playset. ESPECIALLY for the price. Currently it is $120 and you don’t even get the Princess Peach Figurine.

If you want the Princess Peach figurine you have to get the below set for $60 (price when I am writing this). Parents are easily looking at about a grand in cost if they buy all of the sets for their Lego / Mario obsessed little ones, which is smart on their end, but feels like a cash grab.

These are the listing photos of the actual items we bought from Amazon. I feel like what we purchased was a good representation of what we got. Each photo is linked to the listing I bought.
